Do You Offer Tile Pricing per Square Foot?

Clients and contractors ask this all the time so let’s answer it clearly. The short answer is no, we don’t price tile by the square foot. It sounds simple but it creates inaccurate expectations for both homeowners and builders.

Why Square Foot Pricing Doesn’t Work

A simple five by five bathroom floor is twenty five square feet. If we used a generic thirty dollars per square foot number, you’d see seven hundred fifty dollars on paper. In the real world the job still takes a minimum of two full days. Prep, layout, cuts, leveling, waterproofing when needed, and a clean finish take real time. Tight spaces slow things down, not the other way around.

For us time is the real cost driver, not the square footage.

How We Build Our Prices

Our labor rate works out to about one thousand dollars per day for a two-person crew. That covers Joel as a journeyman tile setter and his helper.

Instead of a flat square foot formula, we look at the actual job conditions. The things that make a real difference on time and quality.

What Impacts The Day Count

  • layout complexity
  • room size and geometry
  • tile type
  • subfloor conditions
  • waterproofing
  • demo
  • access challenges
  • condo or high rise requirements

If You Usually Estimate By Square Foot

A lot of builders and remodelers use square foot numbers to build their estimates. If that’s you, here’s what works best.

Option One

Send us a few photos of past projects. We’ll tell you what we would have charged. That gives you a quick conversion for your pricing system.

Option Two

Send photos and details for the actual job you’re estimating. We’ll reply the same day with a solid ballpark so you’re not guessing.
